My first post so I hope I'm not repeating something that I didn't see. Tank is over a year old and all seemed well. Went on a vacation and came home to some red algae. Found my power head stopped working. Did a water change, cleaned tank and replaced power head. All seemed well until this. Its worst and out of control. Thanks for any help.

Get an secondary pump and air stone, and some Chemiclean, I think you might be able to get it at Petco.

Manually remove cyano (use a power head, turkey baster or siphon it out), let tank settle, preform water change. Add Chemiclean and run air pump wait 48 hours perform another smaller water change and add charcoal.

Welcome to R2R. :-)
