A lot of people bring that up as the it's beyond me however I believe they, triton, would know if there was any difference due to bacteria. If you think about it all they need to do to figure it out is take a sample from a tank and test it immediately then take another sample from the same tank at the same time, test it 3 weeks later and compare results.

Their answer is not satisfying, and their is no good answer the way they prepare samples (I've asked Ehsan). No matter what they do, since they have a logn transit time and do not filter out bacteria before sealing the vials for shipping, the answer is not necessarily reflective of trace elements in the water only and not in bacteria, or later taken up by bacteria.

Who knows. I test my samples for what I can prior to sending. Ca mg and i've done fe and potassium as well but not every time. Everything always matches up with my results at the time of collection. That's good enough for me.

lol, Yes it almost morning here. Just wanted to check if your calculations of calcium uptake are correct, because RS guidance is far from perfection :). But it seems OK to me. I would suggest to spread dosage of Colors ACD daily if possible, in your case 0.7 ml per day or 1.3ml every other day.

The expermentation will start Thursday, I was planning on the every other day dosing

Thank you for your replays, I have read a small amount about Trition products, looks like I am going to have to do more research. For the time being I am going to mess with the Red Sea that I have. I have been having pretty good results with dosing by hand. That is why I am asking questions before I start auto dosing
This is what I do @jsker dose them by hand. I dose by calcium uptake as I just found the test kit a nightmare (and sent it back!)

I read that overdosing any of them could ‘be very bad’ in the instructions so decided at the outset I would not auto dose these and I also air on the side of caution with the amount used. I have around 650 litres (before displacement) and just add the required dose by hand every 7 - 10 days depending on calcium uptake. I’m currently adding it every 10 days and it only takes a few seconds so no issues.

This works in my system and the manual dose means it’s under my control (I have a reminder set up).

EDIT. Sorry just noticed 2015 date! Lol. So how did it work out ? Lol

All i know is the directions are totally whack.. lol. I used the post above to calculate my calcium uptake using BRS 2 part. It came out to 2ml... but i am not sure if that is 2ml.period or per 25 gallons. I am thinking total... i have 350 gallon of water in my system.

Better late than never, I say. as @Brian Bieger the direction for dosing are difficult with Red Sea colors. I used an auto doser to dose colors and would test with the colors test kit.

One thing I have learned is to have your Alk steady with any dosing program before trying to get the Ca and Mg steady.

No. It is per each 25 gallons (assuming you want to follow their recommendation):

"(Add 1ml of Color supplement for every 20ppm of Calcium added per 100 liters (25 gal) of aquarium water"

https://5w56d28u4co20frgwagf5y18-wp...age-Manual_GB_DE_FR_SE_NL_SP_PT_JP_CH_17A.pdf

So if you have a 10 ppm calcium consumption per day in 350 gallons, you would dose 10 ppm/20 ppm x 1 ml x 350/25 = 7 mL per day.

Saw this old thread and wanted to see if I'm doing this math correctly. I am dosing ESV B-Ionic for my calcium.

Right now I am dosing 6ml per day on my approximate 20g of water volume tank. Each ML is 16ppm of calcium. So 6 x 16ppm= 96ppm total used. 96ppm divided by the 20 gallons = 4.8ppm of calcium used per 20g per day.

Now they say use 1ml per 20ppm of calcium per 25 gallons. Since my tank is only 20 gallons it would be 0.8ml per 20ppm.

Next we have 4.8ppm divided by 20ppm and get 0.24. So my daily dosage would be
0.24 x 0.8ml = 0.192ml

Does this look right to you guys?

I got the Supplement in today and am wanting to start dosing. Im about 90% sure my math is correct but could use a little reassurance.

@Randy Holmes-Farley could you take a look
TY

Cancel that, I figured it out and I was correct with my math. Confirmed it with the BRS math in their video for their two part.

Instructions
Add 1ml of Color supplement for every 20ppm of Calcium added per 100 liters (25 gal) of aquarium water or for every 2g of calcium uptake.)

So we have 1/20/25 = 0.002
So 0.002ml per 1ppm of calcium added to the system(not sure why they didn't just write this on the bottle)

Hope this helps someone :-)
