hey all - I'm horrible at math and I'm having a hard time sorting out how much of this new red sea magnesium to add. It's the liquid form.

I am at about 1300. I want to go higher to see if it dents a little dinos issue I have. Longshot I know, but hey - worth a shot.

The tank is probably 190g of water. I want to get up to 1500 or so. My basic math says I would need liters and liters of this stuff.

Can someone help a brother out?

Thanks.

Assuming so, then:

"1ml will raise the Mg level of 100 liters (25gal) by 1ppm."

So a 200 ppm rise will take 200 x 190/25 = 1.5 L (1500 mL).

So yes, it takes a lot. Magnesium supplements always take a lot.

1ml will raise the Mg level of 100 liters (25gal) by 1ppm

190g = 719.228 liters
You want to raise level from 1300 to 1500 or by 200ppm

You need approximately 7.19ml to raise your tank by 1ppm and 200x7.19ml or 1,438ml to raise it to 1500ppm. 1,438ml = 1.43 litres of the ReaSea liquid concentrate.

Hey thanks y'all. I guess I was reading it right after all. That's a lot of mg. Maybe I'll switch to an epsom salt solution.

And raising mg is just something I'm going to try. I've seen a few people suggest it so maybe it'll do something. Otherwise I'm tearing it all down.

Thanks again.

OK, let us know what happens, but FWIW, I've read hundreds of thousands of threads, and I do not recall ever seeing anyone treat dinos with magnesium successfully.

Don't confuse treating for dinos with treating for the algae bryopisis. :)
