Hi I have an aquatic life 4 stage twist in RO DI unit, I waited a solid 2 years to change any of the filters because I do not use it to it's full rating and don't use as much water as would be enough to shorten the cartridges life. But anyways I just replaced all 4 stages, I ran water through them and what not to make sure they were cleaned out properly. But now in making my RO water, I'm getting a tds of 2, now don't get me wrong, I realize this is like nothing and probably isn't gonna bother any of my tanks. but I'm just curious as to why I'm not getting a reading of 0 with all brand new cartridges? I've read people saying it should always come out zero unless they need to be replaced. Personally I'm not really concerned, just curious.

How long did you flush/run the new membrane before taking the reading?

Proper way to replace filters

I followed this few weeks ago, and am getting 0 TDS. Then again, I am getting 13 TDS from tap, so there is that as well

Hmm that sounds pretty complicated to replace your cartridges, but I guess if you want it done the right way. I did flush the filter a pretty long time instructions said just flush carbon and sediment clear but I definitely ran them for x amount of time after they ran clean and made about 10 gallons of water at which point I presumed they were reasonably clean and also ran at least 15 gallons through the membrane and instructions said 30 minutes lol and i let it go at least 3 hours. So I was pretty confident in my flushes. Upon retesting a little bit ago I am getting 1tds now according to my meter (Hanna.)
