So I am raising my MG to help battle some Bryopsis with Kent Tech M. I have followed the instructions and have been raising gradually over the last two days. Yesterday my reading was right at about 1500PPM. I continued to add yesterday at about 36PPM per addition. Today, I tested the MG with Salifert and since it is now over 1500PPM I had to fill the syringe a second time and add the two MG amounts together. I have tested twice and now my calculations are reading 2200PPM. There is no way it could raise that high based on my calculations with the MG supplement. Does anyone have any tips on how to test beyond 1500PPM? Right now I am just emptying the first 1.0ML into the test vile. Then refilling to 1.0ML and adding to the same sample until it turns color. then I am matching the second amount and adding it to 1500PPM. Sound right? So far I have added 2 cups total of the solution over two days. Which is 96tsp. Eash tsp is worth 4 gallons of water. On 65 gallons that should equal 18PPM per 16tsp of solution. that should only equate to just over 100PPM. I am showing almost 1000PPM!

So the second reading is around .52? You seem to be doing it right.

Yes right around that. So 1.46ml used x 1500 brings me to just under 2200PPM. Not sure how it can raise 700PPM overnight. Those calculations would equate to 18 cups of the solution. Something isn't right. Good thing is my tank looks fine. No real inverts except my RBTA which looks great. I guess I will stop dosing and keep my eye on it
