So I was at my LFS today and I saw the owner put a bleached scoly into a dark sump. I asked him what he was doing and he said it wasn't going to make it so he wanted the skeleton for a calcium reactor. I offered to buy it from him for $20 and that's that. I've never had a scoly so I'm a little worried on how he is going to do. One employee did say it started to perk up after they moved him to a different system with lower light. Any advice or tips for this rescue would be greatly appreciated. I have him under my big monti in pretty much the lowest light area in my tank and he is under low-medium flow.

Looks like you're on the right path. Low light, low flow and feed often if it will accept it. Make sure to keep it away from pesky fish, hermits or shrimp if you have any. They will finish off a dying coral quick.

I have no crabs in my tank, I don't trust them. I only have a clown pair, fire shrimp, and a red mandarin. I've read not to feed them unless you see feeder tenticles out otherwise they don't digest it as well. Meatier things work better as far as feedings go? I use reef frenzy for my tank and find a lot of the chunkier stuff is too big for my other corals. How much food is too much? Sorry, I feel like such a noob...

I would feed the fish as you normally would and if the scoly shows it's feeders then give it a nice mysis or two.

My scoly only shows feeders at night and rarely when i feed it. It always takes in food within minutes of it on its flesh. Just contracts center over the food into mouth, no feeders. So
That may not always be sign of hunger.

Just turned a flashlight on the tank, like I do every night, and I see this FEEDER TENTACLES!!! Pretty encouraged that given time it'll come around. Sorry about picture quality, my phone is having a hard time focusing on the scoly for some reason.
