Hello:

I currently have a 135g mixed reef with 100g Rubbermaid sump (somewhere around 175-200g total system). I have mostly frags at the moment, tank has been running for about a year.

I am running a Vertex Omega 150, but due to my fish bioload and feeding, I fear this skimmer may not keep up, so I'm looking at some upgrades. At this point, I am open to suggestion on models (big preference towards internal), and have peeked at the Regal SR250.

Appreciate any input.

I had a Vertex Somatic 60s on my 60. It kept up fine but was very sensitive and difficult to adjust. While waiting for a part, I picked up a new Octo (Reef Octopus) 130 Essence. It is amazing! Easy and efficient. If I were to suggest.... try a Reef Octopus brand and see if the Octo comes bigger than the 130. The 130 is rated for 130 gallons but I think it’s perfectly suited for my 60. I think a bigger version would work well for you. I love the Octo and probably will not go back to the Vertex.

Thanks for the input. The Regal 250 I referred to is made by Reef Octopus, so I'll definitely give it an extra look given your input.

As for my Vertex, I find it easy to adjust, but do notice that the input tube seems to periodically move, changing the bubble column height and I have to readjust.

Yea.... bubbles out the bottom or water out the top. It’s such a fine adjustment that it’s hard to get. And when I change a filter sock, I have to start over. Irritating.
