Hey guys I bought this leather coral I think its a nephthea I believe, not sure.
I bought it on Saturday.
It never opens all the way... The picture shows the polyps extension that open the most.
Water flow is moderate, lights is an ATI 8x54w.
It shrinks a couple times a day and comes back the same way. Half open.

Second picture to show the lighting and where is placed.

Coult it be too much light?

I don't think it's getting too much light. Being that it is a new addition though I think it's still just acclimating to your tank. Just give it a couple weeks to settle in and if it doesn't fill out then you might want to consider moving it someplace else in the tank. GL.

Your conditions are probably farther away from the lfs than your brothers. Brighter light, more flow, whatever the reason the coral needs to adjust. It may even shed during the process of acclimating.
