Help with some new Corals

I just received these corals. The one on the far right is a Candy Cane and the one on the far left is a Hammer. Do they grow like this or are they mounted on the extended stalks? How do I mount them on my rock

The "stalk" is part of the coral. You can remove the coral from the frag plug (white disc on the bottom) and use super glue gel to attach it to your rock.

Keep an eye on them. They don't look the healthiest. The tissue looks pretty receded.

I would be very cautious removing the hammer from the plug, their skeleton is surprisingly weak and could shatter on you. Best bet would be to cut off the stalk of the plug. Also, after placement (medium light and flow most likely) try bot to move it. They can take a while to settle in and fluff up.

The stocks are big enough they would do nicely on the sandbed too.

If you want to remove them from the plug, use a razor blade. Don't try to break it free from the plug.

Actually a great idea. I was today years old… haha. Got one in the tank maintenance drawer and I never tried that!

You can cut down the stems but I usually have to use a Dremel with cutting blade to do it. You can use bone cutters also but I haven't found any that are up to the task. Those trunks are tough!

Before you potentially put them through any stress I would suggest leaving them alone for a couple months and see how well you can get them to recover. That hammer on the left is not real healthy based on the picture. With healthy growth you should see the flesh stay down on the trunk at least a quarter inch or more. I'm its current state additional trauma may go poorly.

I do have a scalpel. I will leave them there for a bit to watch. I got them from the Reef Chasers sale last weekend.
