Help with spliced wire!!

So I picked up my first 2 skimmers from a local guy.. when cleaning the pump I noticed the wire is split.. although isn’t exposing any copper/metal.. is there a way I can seal this with layers or reef safe heat shrink wrap and super glue? Was thinking if I heat shrinked it, then super glue with another layer of heat shrink would that help seal it? Really frustrated because I paid a good amount of money for this skimmer and a replacement pump is well over $100.. is there some sort of shop that can do repairs on this kind of stuff if my method doesn’t work? ALL feed back will help me out..

Grab yourself some shrink tube which you heat with a lighter and it will fuse to the wires
Other option is covering with aquarium sealant which will waterproof it

Easy fix. Heat shrink is good but I would squirt some reef safe silicone/ aquarium sealant inside the heat shrink then seal it.

Take some fine sandpaper and scratch up the plastic and then cover it with silicone. Heat shrink over it.

Is there a specific heat shrink material I should be looking for that’s reef safe?

Will the silicone adhere to the plastic/rubber fine? I know silicone doesn’t stick to certain materials

Super glue dries hard and might crack if flexed. That would defeat the purpose. Silicone insulates and flexes. Heat shrink is abrasion resistant. Both together would be the best.

Can't go wrong with liquid rubber, flex seal. Will stick to anything.

You can dip your tools in it, makes then invincible! or you could cut a boat in half and then use flex seal to put that stuff back together, and take it back on the water XDDD

I covered the bottom of my reef tank with it to reduce glare and protect the glass. Works for me. I eventually added sand because it just looks better than bare bottom.

Go to auto store and get role of electrical tape and wrap it with that. With seal very good and easy

The closer I look the more it looks like the actual insulation on the wire is damaged and bare wire showing? If that’s the case you need to make sure no contact between the 2 wires happen at those bare spots. It wire is bare even at a pin hole you will have shorting issues, to fix that use razor to open harness right there repair wires then tape back together

That’s why i recommended heat shrink . Black tape will not hold well in water. Heat shrink becomes new insulation and waterproof
