hello! I have an ATI 6x24w in a 60g cube 24x24x24.
My bulbs sequence are:
B+ C+ B+ P+ B+ Actinic.
I already had 3 sps bleached. From the tip down. Dont know the name of it.
My light now is 7 inches from the water. From the light to the coral is around 14 inches. Some people say I dont have enough lights, others say I have more then enough.
Question is:
Is my light high enough? Should I lower or raise more? If you want an Idea I have a fts picture of the tank and lights.
Bulbs are 1 week old.
Two corals bleached with the old bulbs when the bulbs was around 6 month old.
Another one is bleaching.
CA 410/420
ALK 10
MAG 1400
Thank you.

I'm at a loss. All that you've provided looks good to me.

Are you using RO/DI and what are your ammonia and nitrate levels.....and phosphate?

I find that my sps do much better when Alk is somewhere between 7-8, my sps would bleach a lot faster when my alk was 10+ Also, I have my 24" 6 bulb sunpower 12" above the tank, which is 16" from my top most coral (green mille and tricolor mille). You have plenty of light, try raising the fixture up a bit. I am by no means a sps expert, not in the slightest, but I do know what works well for my tank. Hope this helps

Thank you. I raised to 9 inches from the water now. I will lower my ALK as well. Do you have a fts of your tank?

I dont have a fts at the moment, lights are off, but I will post one tomorrow. Just dont drop your alk too fast, let it slowly fall over a few days, then keep it as solid as you can! I thought the new blue chemi pure was more for freshwater tanks? I have never used it tho

Honestly, most problems have to do with water quality....something is off with your water most likley, maybe its too clean or maybe too dirty? maybe retest again just to make sure? From your tank shot, everything looks pretty dang happy. sps corals are picky ******* sometimes (all the time), but thats the fun part because not everyone can keep them alive and happy
