Fish i like so far

purple fire fish
Midas blenny
Engineer goby (would he work in a cube tank watched a few vids on them and they don't seem to leave the rockwork tank is 24x24x20)
Golden dwarf moray (same as goby would it be ok in a cube tank i know i would have to put the firefish idea out if i got this and would not do the goby and eel together would just get 1)

anymore recommendations welcome and this will be a reef tank

i have RSK 300 so filtration is fine

Hello my friend,
Its exciting to set up a new tank! For me I would consider utilitarian live stock to start out with. Something to help clean up the tank-

I personally love to add algea blenny, sea urchin, tangs (you may have a too small tank for tangs, but maybe a bristle nose possibly) file fish, peppermint shrimp, sea cucumber, bristle star, snails and hermits, a conch, tou can even do freshwater Molly’s to help pick algea.

all of those (and probally other stuff too) will help keep tank clean and are fun to watch.

good luck my friend, can’t wait to see what you do. Take care and happy reefing!

i wanted to do a small yellow tang and rehome him when bigger what you think?
Many people do- personally I think as long as you actually do rehome it or get larger tank should be ok.

look into Tomini or yellow eyed kole tangs. They don’t require as large of tank- and are good looking fish too (IMO)

Not sure a small firefish would be a good mix with an eel, i've heard them eating small gobies and crabs so i'd imagine they might go for it.

Yea i'm not going for the eel as i can't find a secure enough lid i got the red sea 24" lid but it just kind of sits on top nothing to secure it down and i'm not smart enough to make my own lid lol

Also if you like personable fish i'd suggest looking into flame hawks, would probably be a good tank mate in that size of a tank tho they might eat shrimp.

There is no reason, other than quarantine, that any tang should be in a 2 foot tank.

Lots of other options for fish, however.

i agree no fish should really be in any size tank they belong in the ocean not just tangs buddy but people still do it

That argument is a silly one.

There are lots of fish that will thrive, and even breed, in a 2x2: clowns, damsels, dartfish, gobies, blennies, dottys, possum wrasse, and cardinals, to name a few.
