I’m new to reef tanks and am currently in the process of planning my 40 breeder reef. I made up a stocking list of what I would like to have. Does this look like a good list? I will be using a 300 watt viparspectra light. I want a community tank. Anything I should add/take away?

List looks good but I would not put a Chocolate chip star in there. It will eat your soft coral. Plus they get pretty huge..

Not a bad list. Personally, I’d avoid the royal gramma. I almost gone one for my tank but all I hear is they can be real pricks.

Hi! Chocolate chip star is a coral eater :( if you’re planning on having sand (Which I’m guessing you are because of the gobies) then a sand sifting star is a great alternative! Flame angel gets too big for a 40 but a flameback, coral beauty, or cherub angel should be fine. Good luck with your reef!!!

Ok. I like the looks of coral beauties more anyway

Looks good to me. Keep in mind that the blenny and the angel might nip at the fleshier LPS you have in your stocking plan. I'd also like to encourage you to buy a captive bred banggai cardinalfish as opposed to a wild caught one.

Ok thanks. I’ll make sure it’s captive bred.
