Our sun coral didn't look great when we received it. Definitely will not buy from this Ebay seller again. Broken and damaged heads, not well packaged, probably under fed. It had a white skeleton when we received it, now its turning a gray/black. We thought maybe our shrimp were stealing its food, so we started using a bottle over it to feed it and it is opening up more, but still not looking very healthy. What else can we do?

Mine never opens up during the day, just at night. Once it opens, then I target feed it ReefRoids and it seems to be doing well. I feed it about 3 times per week.

It does still open at night, although for a few days, it wasn't. We spot feed with reefroids about 3 times a week as well.

Try spot feeding it mysis or blood worms with some reefroids mixed in, keep using the shield, other tank mates love to steal food from the suns. Mine always liked larger meals. As long as they open up for you most of the battle is won, bigger meals should help them win the war.

I’ve got 2 colonies purchased 2 weeks ago today that haven’t opened up yet, I’m becoming concerned but not worried yet, they can be very stubborn. Like most living thing, eventually they’ll look for food before starving to death.
