Hello.

Have had a Tailspot for about three weeks now.
It acclimated well and started exploring the tank/finding perches/eating algae.
Did some maintenance this weekend and probably kicked up the substrate a little more than I should've.

Anyway two days ago it had a long white poop that took a while to detach. Since then it has been lethargic and mainly hiding out in a hole.
Nitrates are a little high but other then that parameters are good.

Any ideas on what it could be? It was getting a lot of attention from the cleaner shrimp, and has since moved away to different hiding spot.
Worried it may be a parasite.

Did you quarantine?

Long white poop they say it's intestinal worms. Prazi pro is reef safe and should take care of that among other things. Follow directions to the t.

I have a couple inverts and corals, will the pazi effect them?

Great advice above! White stringy poop is a sign of intestinal worms. Prazipro will treat that and is pretty safe in a reef. Your only real concern is feather dusters (as already mentioned). You'll want to follow the directions on the bottle for dosing. You'll need to do two treatments... one now and the second in 5 -7 days doing a water change in between.

^^ Good advice above. For intestinal worms (white stringy poop), you have two options:
  1. Dose Prazipro twice, spaced one week apart.
  2. Lace the fish's food with metronidazole (exs. Metro-MS, Seachem Metroplex) for 3 weeks. You must also use a binder (ex. Seachem Focus) to prevent the med from leaching out into the water.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately it was too late.
Now I really understand why you should QT. [emoji58]

Intestinal worms rarely kill a fish. You might have some other disease in play here.
