I designed the stand so that the tank would sit on the 2x6 stand rim. When they told me about the foam, I had to add the plywood to create a tabletop for the foam.

I was thinking about a custom aquarium stand as I want a tank that is viewable from both the front and back. Would you guys recommend custom aquariums in retrospect?

Foam is always a good option. Always. And the foam should not be large enough to collapse. The foam will smash from the weight. Helping transfer the weight evenly across the bottom.

I would never warranty a tank without foam either.

Gah! I just read my post from earlier and realized it didn't make sense. I was on my phone or something earlier I think. Here is what I was TRYING to say:

I was thinking about getting a tank from Custom Aquariums since I want a tank that is viewable from both the front and back. Would you guys recommend Custom Aquariums in retrospect? Mainly I was thinking about putting the overflows in the middle of the tank (like pillars). Alternatively, I've thought about the Red Sea Reefer Penninsula 650 but it seems like that would be "too much" for a FOWLR (this is to upgrade my current aggressive tank).

So yea, I talked to them today and they're sending me foam for it. Now I have to wait and see.

Well to give an update. I placed the pad under the tank and filled it over the course of 4 days to check for leaks and such. I have since placed the livestock in the tank and everything is doing fine.

How’s the tank holding up?

I received my 260 gallon from Custom Aquariums a couple weeks ago and have the same issue with the corners not touching the stand surface.

We put the tank up on the stand before sliding the foam underneath so I was able to see how uneven the tank is.

When putting level on top of the aluminum frame at the bottom, the frame follows the same pattern of the raise corners.

I know my stand is PERFECTLY level.

Here was their response when I sent them these pictures:

“Some of the panels we use will have a slight bow to them. We weed out the panels that have a noticeable bow but something like this is minor and the pad will help to ensure the entire bottom is fully supported. Nothing to worry about.”
