Goodafternnom everyone, my dads damsel has been acting funky lately. He's had this damel for a little over 6 years since I remember him getting the damsel in when I was a little kid and now I'm in my high school years. The damsel has been hiding in a little cave for the past weeks and has now strangely come out of it and is in the corner of the tank. This is my dads 55 gallon reef tank, and this is the fish live stock: 1 azure damsel, 2 regular clownfish, 1 type of female anthias, 1 green chromis (he bought five of them couple of years ago and 1 remains out of the 7 he bought), and a blue hippo tang (yes, I know it requires a much larger tank, but my dad saved it from petco, it's about 3 inches at the moment and will be giving to someone who has a better suited home for it). My dad says he hasn't added any other fish for the past year, and he does maintain his tank very well. I think the damsel may be getting picked at, I'm not really sure. He seems to have little bit of ripped fins and im thinking some bite marks. I dont see any aggression in the tank. Before the damsel started acting weird, everything was in perfect harmony, but then out of nowhere he started hiding. Thx for any of the help!

Can you move him to the sump until he recovers?

I made a quarantine tank for him. My dad hasn't bought any fish in a very long time probably in over 2 years. There has been peace and no aggression. As I said earlier the damsel started hiding, and today my dad showed the damsel in the corner of the tank all beat up. A few hours ago, I saw the damsel swim and ALL the fish were beating it up. Does anyone know why the fish are having this behaviour?

I am a newbie so not sure. Usually, it is a damsel that is a problem. Sounds like you have done the right thing. You may have to rehome the damsel. Can you take more pictures? He made need some medicine. @Jay Hemdal can advise.

I doubt the damsel is the problem. It's the 1st fish my dad got in the saltwater hobby. He's had it with many other fish. Me nor my dad have we ever seen agression from the damsel. I nust cant figure out why this is happening, I will try to heal it up and put it back in the display. I hope some expert out there can help me figure out why the fish have this behaviour towards tha damsel. Thx to all those who have replied! The pic is the damsel in a 10 gallon quarantine tank with a sponge filter and some live rock that is shown in the pic.
