Help with Triton Method

So my latest Triton ICP showed a lot of problems and how to fix them but not in what order. The results can be found here https://www.triton-lab.de/en/showroom/icp-oes/104029

Basically it's telling me to add a lot of supplements and treatments but it's also advising me to do 6 water changes. I found where the metal was coming from and fixed that so wouldn't the water changes alone fix most of the other problems?

I was thinking I should just do the 6 water changes and run Rowaphos then do another ICP test to see how things are or should I be dosing everything it tells me to while doing water changes and running Rowaphos?

i would do the detox and water changes then do another icp test. then if anything is still out of line you can adjust accordingly. this is how i was always advised, pointless adding loads of elements just to change them out with water changes

Thanks for the reply. I was set to do just that then decided to just do what it says. I didn't get any reply to this thread so I figured better to error on the side of caution.

I finally got the results of the N-Doc test as well and everything is messed up with that as well. You can take a look at it at:

So the battle is long from over. Apparently my ratio is all off. The only thing it suggested was to dose Triton Biobase. The thing is by the time I got the results most of those numbers have changed. My Alkalinity shot up to 8.7, my Phosphates have gone down to 0,05 and my Nitrates have gone down to only 1ppm. I stopped dosing Core7 until my alkalinity goes back down to 7 (that's where Triton Core7 Method wants it) and I stopped dosing carbon (Nopox) because my nitrates and phosphates where too high before (the macro algae couldn't keep up on its own), now my Nitrates are too low.

I really need to get this thing stable before I end up killing everything.

So far the Triton Method isn't what I thought it would be. I think it's great for people just staring a tank or those with already stable tanks, but now I'm thinking it might have been a bad idea to start the Triton Method on a tank that has problems. I should have fixed the problems first, stabilize the tank then start switching to Triton over time.

dont panic, do the water changes suggested, then test again, i would ignore the results of phos etc until i had done the water changes and re evaluate, i had teething problems switching to triton from red sea but following the guidelines they gave me, i turned it around and had a very happy tank within a few months. dont give up.!! 6 x water changes will pretty much be a fresh start by the end of it anyway.

I'm pretty much done with all the dosing stuff and I have a few more water changes to do. I'm still dosing the BIOBase I was told to dose with the N-Doc test out of curiosity to see if it actually does anything. I plan to test on the first of the month just to see if anything has changed.

I think the main problem is the testing assumes you have a refugeum full of macro algae and usually you don't if you're just starting. You probably have the small baseball size you get from algae barn. Then you remove the filter socks and crank up the return pump to 10X turnover and your whole system is screaming what the heck!

Just switching salt mix to Tropic Marin (over time) was a huge change for my tank. I started with Instant Ocean reef crystals which is something like 13 dkh then slowly switch to fritz blue box which is something like 9 dkh then finally slowly switch to tropic marin pro reef with a dkh of 7.

I'm happy to say my main display is looking a lot better. My refugeum looks like waste disposal site though. I have a small MJ1200 that just takes water from my skimmer section and sends it to the refugeum area just to give it a little more flow in there and the part of the hose in the refugeum looks like a chi-pet it's so covered in algae. I should take a picture of it. I thought it was funny when I pulled it out to take a look and saw the entire end of the hose in the water was green and furry. But as long as it's only in the refugeum and not in my main display it can grow in there all it wants.
