Help with weir and bubble trap

Hi!

i just got my sump glass and i have siliconed the ”frame”. Now it is time to silicone the bubble traps and skimmer weir. Or what ever it is called

DT is 150 gallon.

the problem i am facing is now that i have placed the cardboard template in my sump i think they are way to low. The way i have now it will not contain as much water as i’d like.

it sucks! Maybe i have to order new glass and then i have to wait for weeks.

sump length is 150cm height 40 width 40. This is 240 litres.

skimmer baffle is height 25 cm and 40 yish width.

bubble trap baffle is only 20 high and 40 yish width.

total water volume will then be between skimmer and return 110 cm x 20 height x 40 width which is 88 litres.

skimmer compartment will be around 40x20x40 so 32 litres.

total amount is roughly 120 litres

do you think if i add another 5cm or something to the weir and baffle would be ok to increase the totalwater volume? Means i have to order new glass!

Ps. My skimmer works at optimal height around 21-23 cm, so i plan on adding eggcrate under it. Its a Nyos Quantum 160.

I think it’s fine the way it is, but you certainly have room for higher baffles if you want. And it will be a lot harder to adjust once it’s up and running.

I’d do it the way you want it now.

Thank you! I will get higher baffles. I tried to cut and break on of the bubble traps and add to the height of the skimmer baffle. All i needed was 5 cm and the remaining i would glue to the bubble trap. Well it did break alright.
