Hi all,

My first post.

So i purchased a yellow finger gorgonian on saturday for my 75 gal reef tank. all polyps were extended and healthy looking in the store. it's been three days and i have only seen a few polyps open up, and never more than 2 or 3 at a time. I am target feeding it with marine snow.

about my tank:
75 gal
1.024 salinity
9 dKH
440 cal
0 nitates
0 nitrites
0 phosphates
0 ammonia
8.2 pH

tank has been up for about 6 months. everything else is healthy.
i run a skimmer but turn off when target feeding
90 lb live rock
about 150 watts LED

placed the gorg on the sandbed, in an area of good flow.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

If the gorgonian does not open up in another day or two I would try different placement.

Thanks for the reply. would you aim for higher or lower flow? i currently have about 700 g/hr via return pump and a 1600 g/hr powerhead for flow. it's in an area of medium flow now, enough to make the branches sway from time to time.

More, give it 24 hours if it does not open lower. I really hate to move corals/gorgonians but sometimes it has to be just right.
