help!!! I came down this morning and my yellow tang is lying on the bottom of my tank he has good color except some white over his eyes he won't eat and didn't move when I got my hand close I do have a fox face in there as well

Current tank parameters
75 g
Salinity 1.023
PH 7.5-8 ( a little low I added some buffer)
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5-10 mg
Inhabitants 1. 1 1/2 inch yellow tang
1. 3 inch fox face

Any other markings on the tang? Can you post a picture of it?

How old is the tank? How long have you had the tang and how long have you had the fox face? Have you seen any aggression between the two? Can you post a pic of the tang?

Update he didn't make it long the tank is only a few months old no other markings that I can see the red was white until I pulled him out they were both introduced at the same time about 2 weeks ago and he was bright yellow and eating yesterday no aggression towards each other they actually are almost never apart

Sorry for your loss :(

I would keep a close eye on the foxface in the coming days. I would also do a water change and test the water periodically to keep an eye on parameters.

Thanks for the advice I'm also going to take him and a water sample to my LFS

I'm sorry to hear you've lost him, almost as soon as you started to fight . . .

The red color behind his head might be an internal infection ... or might be post-mortem. There's a raised bump or two on his dorsal that might be flukes. If you still have the body, it might be helpful to dip him into freshwater for a while, and see what falls off.

I agree with @Maritimer, those lumps on the dorsal are odd and the redness could be indicative of an infection. He also looks like he was on the thin side. You said he had some white on his eyes? I don’t see anything in the picture but cloudy eyes, especially if both, points even more to an infection. Cloudy eyes can also be caused by flukes, I would recommend you freshwater dip your other fish to eliminate that option just in case.

Did you do a water change recently or have a large salinity swing?

Update fox face is fine added a niger trigger and a clown and my fox face has never been better actually. bright yellow, not hiding anymore I have a suspicion the fox face stung him either over a hiding spot or food in the night
