Hey everyone,

So a while back at least a couple months my parameters were out of wack and I wasn't keeping everything stable as I should. For well over a couple months things have been stable but my LSOH zoas won't open back up, I see a little open then close up again, they are shrinking and I'm getting concerned. Also I've had an issue keeping chalices but I also attributed that to swings in parameters. But for at least 2 months and closer to 3 now I've kept everything stable. Everything else zoas, palys, shrooms, torches, montis and favias look good.

Calcium 400-420
Alkalinity 9.1-9.3
PH 8.0-8.2
Phos 0.06
Nitrate 10ppm
Salinity 1.025
temp 77-78
mag 1400-1450

Thanks

Params look good. Possible there is livestock bothering them or pest?

My Zoas did the same for a while, couldn't figure it out and one day they just opened again. THey were closed for a couple of weeks! Still a mystery to me.

Shrinking is absolutely a terrible sign. Can you post a picture? Are they melting? You may want to consider an iodine dip to help them. Are you dosing iodine in the tank somehow? Iodine is very important to zoas and they will shrivel and die without proper levels. Can you identify a pest? Have you moved them recently?

Clown fish, royal garamma, 2 firefish, emrald crabs, hermits, banded coral shrimp and pepermint shrimp. Glass bottom frag tank. I don't dose much besides kalk right now. I don't have an iodine test so didn't want to over do anything. Does Revive contain iodine? I'll have to get pics tomorrow when lights are on.

You’re not dosing your elements like calcium, alk, trace? A trace should include iodine, its nearly impossible to test for iodine without ICP

I added some Seachem trace, and reef plus. I can get the iodine test kit, just wondering if there are any suggestions? Seachems multi kit is $16, Salifertbis $30 and Redsea at $43, I'm open to any as long as it gets thr job done as accurately as these test can be.

Calcium and Alk through kalk added to ato. Iodine not consistant and maybe enough to be too low.

That’s what happened to my zoas with other parameters being in range. I added iodine and they opened back up in about a week or so.
