Are you topping off with fresh water, or is it 2 gal evaporation, then you remove 3 more gallons of water, and add 5 gallons of salt water? It evaporates about 2 gallons a week so I'll pull 3 more out and and a hole box of water

Wait. Is this correct:It evaporates about 2 gallons a week so I'll pull 3 more out and and a hole box of water
It evaps 2 gallons and I pull 3 out and top off with 5 gallons of new waterAre you topping off with fresh water, or is it 2 gal evaporation, then you remove 3 more gallons of water, and add 5 gallons of salt water?
Yes it's hot in Oklahoma so it evaps fastWait. Is this correct:
You evaporate about 2g a week
Then you siphon out 3g
Then add a 5g box of premade saltwater ?
Right now a cheap full sep light but my good ones show up in 2 weeksLike @crazyfishmom said spot feed them and get those nitrates up. What lights are you using though?
Only freshwater evaporates. The salt stays behind. It evaps 2 gallons and I pull 3 out and top off with 5 gallons of new water
Do you have a salinity checker? If so use it now.Yes it's hot in Oklahoma so it evaps fast
You are increasing your salinity like this. Are you testing the salinity in your tank? You need to top off the amount that evaporates with fresh water, the salt stays in the tank while the water evaporates. It evaps 2 gallons and I pull 3 out and top off with 5 gallons of new water
My salinity has stayed at 1.025 and a cheap full spec my good ones show up in 2 weeksOnly freshwater evaporates. The salt stays behind.
So everytime you do this process:
2g of freshwater evaporates, this increasing remaining tanks salinity
Then you remove 3g of saltwater and add 5g of saltwater
Everytime this happens you end up with 2g worth of extra saltwater
Also what light do you have. Anemones rely on light
Ok I hear ya. But that’s impossible. So something is wrong. You can’t remove 3g of saltwater and add 5g of saltwater and not have the tanks overall salinity be stableMy salinity has stayed at 1.025 and a cheap full spec my good ones show up in 2 weeks
Refractometer and it's an aqua light from pet co and the good one are one I ordered from a coral store in OKC it's what he uses in his nursery tanksOk I hear ya. But that’s impossible. So something is wrong. You can’t remove 3g of saltwater and add 5g of saltwater and not have the tanks overall salinity be stable
How are you checking salinity ? A refractometer or a swing arm?
Also what is “cheap full spec” and what “good ones” are showing up?
It is possible neither is capable of supporting anemones…we are trying to check and confirm to help you

This...Refractometer is good
But doesn’t make any sense how your tanks salinity isn’t gradually increasing. It defies physics
It's a year and a half oldThis...
Have you calibrated the refractometer? Also, having a tank set up with nothing in it was not moving you forward. Your tank is 6 months old, and way to new to support nems. If you post a full tank shot, that may help to assess the situation.
It's what I'm so confused about my fish and other nems are just fine its only bubble tips and the water blows me away bc I calibrate my meter before ever testRefractometer is good

How do you calibrate? You shouldn’t have to do this very oftenIt's what I'm so confused about my fish and other nems are just fine its only bubble tips and the water blows me away bc I calibrate my meter before ever test
When did you add livestock? It's a year and a half old
I use bottled water to calibrate and I only don't so much to be double sureHow do you calibrate? You shouldn’t have to do this very often
