They move from shell to shell and they also molt (shed their skin like a snake) dont let it freak you out ;-)

A LFS store I go to has a hermit crab they nicknamed the streaker because he likes to run around the tank without a shell. The crab should be fine, just get some more shells for him to test out, the one he is in may be to small or he is out to molt.

He probly out grew his shell. Do you have bigger shells for him to get into?
