my tank is kind of fogy it looks like there are 1000000000000 dots everywhere. is there a chemical of something i can pore in it that will get rid of it? and wont hirt my fish i have 2 clown 3 chromis 1 firefish :help::nerd:

my tank is fogy like it looks like there are a lot of specks it is not bugs i don't know what they are help me! i only have 6 fish in a 55 gal and live rock and live sand and i used ro water and there is no amonya and no nitrite and no nitrate i did a 10% water change the other day

Have you added anything to the tank? Calcium, alkalinity etc.?

Is the tank new? Cloudiness makes it sounds like your having an ammonia bloom.

Common causes of cloudiness are newly adding sand, immature tank, bacterial bloom and calcium crystallization due to over dose. In most cases best bet is to wait and see. If no obvious reason and not clearing up in 2 weeks you can use carbon which clears up water in most such instances.
Having tiny particles suspended in a clear water could be a copepod bloom and is not considered cloudiness and is sign of a maturing tank and should be left alone.

What are you're parameters? I had something similar happen last week but it looks like it was just my calcium that just precipitated.

yes this is a new tank and it went through its cycle a month ago then i changed 10% of the water and checked the levels and it was good a week later i aded the fish and this moning the ph went from 8.0 to 8.8 is that really bad or will it go away tomaro?

By any chance did you just add a skimmer? Sometimes the micro bubbles from a skimmer can do that. Happened to me a while ago.

but they are expensive.. and my sump is small like weird shaped and i dont think a skimer will fit in the sump. is there a chemicle ????

I was asking if you got a skimmer because the bubbles from it can fog water. Are you using tap water? Most likely an algae bloom.

Nothing else than carbon is going to be safe. Dosing Ozone has also been shown to make water crystal clear but can be overdosed easily and needs an ORP monitor. Peroxide is also doses by some brave men as an alternative to ozone but again can easily kill corals and fish with overdose.

It could be diatoms. Could also be micro bubbles. A skimmer won't help and a $10 bottle of who knows what certainly won't help.

Probably need to identify what is in the water before you decide to treat with chemicals.

We need info to figure out what you're looking at, because obviously we can't see it.

Or... you could start dropping stuff in the water to see if it goes away. I'm sure someone at "Pet - something - or - other" will have a quick fix.

Did you add all these fish at one time and recently???? If so then you probably added way too much to fast and your tank could be going through another cycle. If not about the only thing I would do is maybe add a good quality carbon in a reactor and water changes. This is all just a shot in the dark and I would also bring a sample of the water to a local salt water pet store (not petsmart) to have them test it.

Run a diatom filter for an hour. Will clear the water fast. Likely bacteria bloom

i pult a sock on the end of my return pump and that seams to be helping. i will poast pics of everything later ( i have a werd sump so i cant pult a filter sock on the end of the tube from the overflow box)
