so i just got a new reef octopus bh2000 hob protein skimmer. as per the "wonderful instructions" i have it all set up after tearing it apart twice to make sure. plugged it in and everything seems to work fine BUT i am having the worst micro bubble overflow into the dt. on every video i have been able to see all the bubbles stay in the first chamber but as for mine i have bubbles everywhere. is this due to needing to run and just break in? is it that as of yet my water isnt dirty enough yet to be broken down correctly? is this because aliens like to see us struggle? haha i am lost and have tried everything to get this to work. also my water level in the return portion seems to run higher than what i see in other vidoes causeing a constant gurgle, anyway to fix this?

A brand new skimmer tends to do this through its break in period. A bath in vinegar and water would remove the resin on the acrylic and help a bit. Just gotta give it a few days.

I have this skimmer and love it! That is definatly a break in thing. Make sure to use the round coarse sponge above the return cup. It helps keep the small bubbles from splashing water on your lights when they pop on the surface of the water. Give it about a full day of running to break in. Plan on checking your collector cup often because it is going to fill faster during break in. Also make sure that when you slide your collector cup into the skimmer, it sits just below the small 3/8 hole that dumps right next to your return pipe.
