Is this parasite? I got this two clownfish about a week ago and they look fine until now that I see a lot of white spot.

Cyptocaryon irritans or better known as Marine Ich. Need to QT and treat all fish in the tank. I'm a hypo-salinity fan, slowly bring the salinity down in the QT over a few days and treat for a 4 weeks leaving the DT fallow. Other have their preferred ways of treating it also but this is what has worked best for me.

Oh wow. That is a serious case of Ich. I would highly recommend to move them into a Quarantine and treat in some way.

I too am having the same problem with mine. Similar circumstances, good for a week then sick. Moved them to a quarantine tank today and will be exploring my treatment options while at work tonight so that I can hopefully start taking care of it tomorrow.

Today I go to the LFS AND I talk to my friend he give me more advice. I buy a natural product for the tank that it's safe for fish and corals. I put the fish in a quarantine tank like all of you say. I low the salt and put a uv sterilizer. Tahoe61 that article was very helpful, learn a lot. Now I have to keep the treatment and wait for results. Hope everything works fine.

What is this natural product that you are using? Just trying to look into as many viable and safe ways to treat mine as well.

It's kordon ich attack, it's 100% natural. This is the first time using it. It's 1 to 2 weeks treatment, so have to wait to see results. Have any of you use this product or some similar?

Can't say I've ever heard of it, but I'll be doing some reading tonight and keep an eye on what everyone here thinks about it, then get some treatment started tomorrow. Please do let us know how it works for you.

Well today is the 3rd day of treatment and the clownfish look much better. The male one and smaller at first he don't want to move from one spot and right now he is very active, the female stop scratching the sand and the rocks and both are swimming normally. Both have less white spot maybe because they already felt down. What I can see is that the treatment is working but is too soon to say. Will be posting more updates.

Oh i forgot to mention that I buy a cleaner shrimp, maybe he is helping a little. Do they eat this kind of parasite?

I don't believe the shrimp will really have an impact on it. I too picked up the same product you are using, and 2 days into treatment both of my clowns are active again, eating normally, and generally looking better.

But like you said, it really is too soon to say for sure if its working as intended. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on them for awhile.

Cleaner shrimp will only provide tempory relief, the parasite is too deeply embeded in the tissue for the shrimp to remove. Happy to hear your fish are doing better.

Bad news my two clownfish die. The treatment was working great , the spot had already gone and both were very active and eating. What happen? Well when I come home from work, the house was without electricity, when I ask my neighbor I ask him at what hour the electricity was gone and he tell me almost 8 to 12 hours. So I think it was the stress of not having filter and power head, and since they were recuperating from ick well it was gonna happen.

The Dr.Gs medicated caviar does wonders for me , just feed them the caviar and watch the ick go away daily. for me usually by the 4th or 5th day with a 20percent water change they are back to ick free.
