Help!!!

I did everything as normal. I normally check for cyano and take that out, a bit may have been eaten by fish... After doing the cyano check I do the 25% change. This time around I cleaned out the filter and added the Purgen. I did notice that in my last change there was a new cave that something dug under a liverock. Could it have been trapping a toxin pocket then it just burst? All my corals seem to be alive and fine, the toadstool has started to come back out, my brains are accepting food and the zoas are open. I dont know what it was but the fish smell has dissipated and it got expensive fast.

Thanks. Still no idea what caused it but I'm not going to put any fish in there for a few weeks to make sure it stabilizes. How is everyone elses tank doing?

Strange. Stirring up an undisturbed sand bed could do it but yours hasn't really been going that long. Sometimes the worst part is not knowing what happened. Sorry to hear about your fish. Mind me asking what types of fish you lost?

Not at all I lost a bicolor dotty, 2 clownfish, a chalk basslet, court jester goby and a neon blue goby.

My tank's been pretty good.:)
Perhaps something was dead in the sand, rotted, and just now released the gases and such :/ how well did you cure your live rock?

How old is your tank, and what size tank? Did you add the fish quickly and together or spread adding them out? Hope everything has calmed down sorry for your losses.

My tank is only a few months old. its a 28gal bowfront. I added fish slowly to start 2 at a time every other week until i was at my 6. I didnt add anything but a coral or 2 in the weeks after.

It seems to be calming down. I added seachem stability to boost bacteria and wont add fish until I get the little bit of red slime and the cycle stable. Thanks eveyone for the advise.

I will be redoing my rock landscape I believe I have a dead spot or 2 and that may have trapped toxins.

The good news is that all the inverts and corals are still alive and look great. Even the stupid Mantis Shrimp that I cannot get rid of.
