Ok i have set up a frag tank with a 110gal sump.......the water in the tank wont stop foaming.....what is the problem? I have ran all my tests on the water it all test good....so what can I do?

I think maybe my wife sprayed lysol to close to the sump and it might have got in the water. maybe....not sure.....what should i do? :ooh:

Put some water in a bottle and shake the bottle. If it foams up like dishwashing soap you have a problem! If it doesnt, I guess its not as serious! Sorry I dont have a scientific approach to this but that thought just came to me! I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express though! :xd:

I am far from being an expert but if I was in that situation I'd be alarmed. Try this, you know when you get a glass and you have excess dishwashing soap? you keep rinsing it till it stops foaming. Try that on the bottle see how many rinses it takes to stop it that can give you some indication of what kind of build up is in there.

ok i dumped the water out filled to the same point with tap water and it did not foam....even if i shake it very hard. no foam....so didnt have to rinse ..........

spraying lysol near the tank wouldnt cause this, have you dosed anything in the tank? Chemi clean?

is this a new setup? or upgrade from an existing tank? anything live in the tank? You should be running carbon right now and dose some prime if you have any.

shouldnt cause that but possible, is there anything living in the tank?

is there a skimmer? and if so what is it doing?

If there was no build up I dont think its a problem. Maybe its from the sand, did you add rubble or sand recently? Maybe the tank just needs to settle, im stumped!

no skimmer.....ii was going to plumb all this in with my main tank and sump once the water settled down.
