ok so I had a wrasse jump out of my open top tank today and decided to make a screen to put overtop the tank. I went with a galvanized screen since it would sit above the water and not actually in the tank but when I was trimming it a piece of the screen ( about the size of my pinky finger nail fell into the tank and I cant find it. Its a 75 gallon tank with a bunch of coral. do you think theres enough zinc in the galvonized piece to leech out and nuke my tank? or should the amount in that small of a piece be reletively harmless?

I looked all over for plastic at the local hardware store and couldn't find any. guess im just gonna wait it out and do a little more frequent water changes for a while just in case

I wouldn't worry to much about it. It won't break down all at once. Throw a polypad in and do extra water changes if you are concerned.

In that size tank, that little amount will not really do any damage. You should be fine.

Thanks guys I was about to lose sleep over this :/ been at this too long to have a stupid mistake like this wreck everything

I'd glue a magnet to the end of a stick (brake a plastic hanger) and poke around the area you think it may have fallen. I read a guy lost a bunch of corals cause something small had started to rust in his sump. Didn't happen over night if that helps you sleep
