qwik question, has anyone had a frogspawn lose color due to lack of light, or do they only lose color with too much light?? It was green with purple tips with a couple tentacles goin clearish about a week ago b4 I left for vaca.. Got home today and the whole thing lost all the green and the purple tips are pinkish purple now.. I jus put new lights.. I had one weak t5 and one actinic bulb fixture when I introduced it to my DT.. Weak later it's starting loosing color, when I put a ocean direct t247 120w Led light.. I start with low light for this past week to break the corals in and now he's clear.. Lol can it be that he came from halides and need more light?? I have the light 14inches above the water also.. Any ideas??

Yes, that's happening to mine right now due to the poop leds in it. The regular lights were taken out and replaced with those. They are bleaching from lack of good lighting.

Yeah I would turn them up, unless something is off in your parameters. I wish i could turn mine up.

I also have one of those Ocean Revives T247 and my frogspawn did never lose color, so I am assuming your new lights are fine. However, when I briefly switched to my new Kessils, I had my carpet anemone lose color and almost lost my acans.
Thinking back now, I believe it was my mistake for not acclimating them to the new lights. Think that could be the cause of your frogspawn change of color?

Hmm bleaching is the release of zooxanthellae
Now if there was too much light i can see this happening.
Now the lack of light will brown them.

I agree with the acclimation part.. I started him out side in a shady spot and worked him in because I figured it came from metal halides.. I know my lights aren't putting out more power to bleach him..

Nope, no brown.. Deff clear.. Why tho if it was under halides?? And what do u mean by what we see and they see??

So a local guy had this problem with his hammer

Similar to what your seeing? He started using Kent Kalkwasser to keep his tank stable and now the color is coming back. It took 2 months, but he's reporting success. Check your parameters, check again, and check one more time a couple days apart or every day- whatever the point is to be sure your numbers are staying stable the whole time.
