its cyano. pretty normal. itll pass.
how long has the fuge and tank been on line.
any cyano in the dt?

yup just a little bit of the uglies. You want the cyano and other alge in the sump, it keeps it out of the dt.

not surprising its building up on the sponges as its catching food there, and its likely theres not enough benificial bacteria on the sponges yet. As the fuge gets stronger the macros will/or should out compete the cyano.
i wouldnt stir it up or mess with it, itll just spread it right now.

you may have to reconsider the placement of the sponges as they will just keep trapping gunk. the only time i put sponges before the pump is when im cleaning or trimming chato. then its always open.
