I'm new here but have had saltwater tanks my whole life. Yesterday my 3 yr old decided my tank needed a whole box of fish fry. All fish died, but Chico star, hermit crabs, turbo snail, and feather duster are still alive. I have done 2 water changes to try and clear it up. My question is this, is it a complete loss and have to start all over with new water and sand or can it be filtered out?

They will be able to help you

Dang. so sorry to hear.
Youll have to keep doing water changes or a very large one and run the filters as well.

Hi and Welcome. :-)

No you do not have to start over. Just keep doing water changes and test for ammonia and nitrites.

Sorry to hear this...can I ask what is/are "fish fry"?

Agree with other keep doing water changes and running your filter. Make sure you check your water levels throughout this too!

Pretty smart kid. Atleast it had the word fish on it. Could of been windex or soap. My little one is 6 months old, it's only a matter of time before I have a thread like this.

I'm actually surprised it killed all your fish... How much water volume is involved? the ingredients don't look too bad, perhaps too acidic?
(Enriched Yellow Corn Meal (Corn Meal, Iron, Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Salt, Spices (Including Red Pepper), Citric Acid, Monosodium Glutamate (Flavor Enhancer), Garlic, Corn Maltodextrin, Onion, Lemon Puree, And Lemon Juice.)
