When you make that transition with your salt, do it slowly. Those brands have very different chemistry and switching directly over could cause some issues. I'd ween your tank over to Red Sea in no less than 3 water changes. You'll prob want to do 70% instant ocean 30% Red Sea for your first WC, 50/50 for your second, and 30/70 for your 3rd. (Extending this would be preferable) you can do weekly/ biweekly waterchanges to accomplish this
Thanks for the tip. I really had no idea. I was just going to start using red Sea. I will do what you mentioned. [emoji106]

lots of people use tap water as along as its treated. brown stuff is diatoms and there is nothing to worry about them. soon as silicate levels in system go away so will diatoms. this is a simple phase of breaking in the tank.
Thanks ! Need to invest in RO system regardless [emoji23] . But yeah I was a bit worried about that

FWIW, I'm not convinced switching salt brands is any concern and need not be done slowly unless the water changes are very large (in which case, alkalinity changes might be a concern for some situations). :)

I usually would be with you on that, but I'm only concerned about the low kh. There's a possibility of wide ph swings- especially when switching to a high end salt and to a purer water source at nearly the same time

Well, I won't belabor the point, but in general, I don't agree that special caution is warranted. :)
