So over the past week I have lost my mandarin goby and three clownfish.

Perams
Salinity -1.022 (working on getting back up)
PH- around 8.2
Ammonia, nitrite -0ppm
Nitrate - 40ppm

Any idea what could be going on? All fish have been eating and no signs of sickness.

NO3 is high prob bc you are overfeeding the fish and uneaten food is trapped in low current areas and turning into NO3.

I suggest a 50% WC and then start feeding fish by HALF the amount. Maybe even 1/4th. Fish DONT need a lot if food like humans do.

More food does not equal healthier bigger fish

More food = adding poison to your tank with uneaten food turning into a NO3 toxin

.

Are you Sure theres been no signs .. no hidding from the light or flashing/rubbing on rocks ... no spots .. had you noticed if the fish had white stringy poo ... and blemeshis on the fish .. redness .....
IT might be velvet if youve lost 3 fish that fast ..

Not the best at diagnosis, but those that are might benefit from some additonal information. Such as...
  • How long has tank been up and running
  • Size of tank
  • Remaining fish - quantity and type
  • Any recent/new additions and when
  • Any other recent changes or swings
The more info the better to get you the best advice.

About a year, 100gal, has some GSP, a blue mushroom coral, and a frog spawn. Also has a female manderian goby, domino damsel, yellow tail damsel, three stripe damsel, a yellow/orange damsel, two father dusters, a little neck clam, a couple horseshoe crabs and a hippo tang. Working on rebuilding my CUC after some of the inhabitants ate them. Feed once a day with either 2 frozen mysis or brine cubes. Just recently added 60lbs of live rock.

That is a lot of damsels. Im not an expert on which ones are peaceful but i dont think any of the striped ones are.

But live rock can carry all kinds of diseases or pests.

First off it’s not your No3, 40ppm isn’t toxic.
Secondly, what kind of test kits your using?.
As you see Dave @dbl already said, we need more info.
Fish are dying a slow dead or do the go fast?

Using api test kit

API aren’t trust trustworthy.
For ammonia it should be fine.
How are other fish doing on the moment?
I would keep a close eye on your damsels aa they are know for bullying or worse.
I would put a hold on new tank mates for a while and see how this tank folds out for a month or two.

If that yellow damsel has black stripes I’d watch him close. I watched one kill a fish two or three times his size in minutes, he was vicious. I had to take all the rock out to catch him.
