Can anyone tell me if my coral is dead

Also is there a way I can clean up my sand besides using a syphon? (Guessing that’s how you spell it)

These are my water parameters (not good at all)

Calcium: 380 ppm
KH: 196.9 ppm (11°dKH)
Phosphate: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm
pH: 8
Ammonia: 4.0 ppm
Nitrite: 1.0 ppm

I'd get a bucket with some of the tank water in it & see if I could carefully remove as much of the hair algae as possible by hand. I'm not sure if these are palys or zoas but make sure you use gloves in a well ventilated area. Keep it under the water.

I would just do a hydrogen peroxide dip on that whole forsaken rock, but the prudent method would be manual removal of algae and spot applying peroxide.

As for the sand, a small army of nassarius would help. But a watchman goby or tigertail cucumber would really get it clean.

Ok I should have read the new posts before posting. Your ammonia is 4.0? Your parameters coupled with a rock full of algae make no sense.

Ok. I will manually extract the algae off the coral and hope for the best. Thanks for the help guys!

I do have a IV Sterilizer in my tank so was wondering if running that will give some benefit, any thoughts?

Removed a good portion of the algae in a bucket using protective gloves. Hopefully works well!

Something is wrong if the tank has bee set up for 1.5 months and you still have that much ammonia and nitrite. I would give the coral a quick rinse in 3% hydrogen peroxide to kill the algae. But your coral is not going to do well untill ammonia and nitrite are undectable with hobby test kits.

I would not recommend a full 3% H2O2 dip. More like 1:4. Do some research on it before attempting if you want to do a full dip and not the preferred spot treatment.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
