How strong of a pump does a 40 gallon need?and how many watts for the heater local fish store said 150 but online I see people says 150 is too much

I would do a 150 watt heater. For the pump, are you talking about a return pump from a sump, power head, wave maker, gyre, etc.

What ki d of coral? Softies, LPS, and anemones will be alright with low to medium flow and SPS would most likely need high flow.
