Help?

I just bought a sailfin tang not 2 months ago, he was acting fine for a while. Yesterday my tank ran out of water in my sump while I was at work and he started to act odd( hiding in the rocks and staying right by the water intake. So I thought he was just freaked out so I put purified water in the tank and left him for the night. I leave before my tank light comes on so I didn't cheak on him in the morning but when I got home and did head check fed him and my 2 clowns he didn't show up so I started to look for him and found him dead on the water intake. He didn't have any spots that's one of the first things I looked for to clear (Amyloodinium ocellatum) and ick off my list on things to check then I checked the water parameters and they where good aswell. The only other thing I have in the tank is a soft leather with green flowers ( I cant remember the name of it picture attached) and turbo snails. Him and 1 vlown fish where the new additions to the tank and where just put in my main tank of 120 gal. This was my dads tank until he passed and now I'm trying to bring it back to is former glory and like to know any recommendations to look for as I'm relatively new to saltwater, and for things to do to better prevent my fish from dying

hi welcome,sorry to hear ,how many gallons did you add ,check salinity? possible lack of oxygen,possible loose electric,poss large temp swing?

2 gallons the salinity is very mildly on the higher side but still in the green zone and I acclimated him before letting him swim freely for about 45 min to an hour,and as for the o2 being low wouldn't it also effect my clowns? It was blowing air bubbles into the tank so maybe to much o2?

Yes but I checked the salinity today and it was still fon and I added it into the sump as we have for a while.

nothing to do with acclimtion 2 mo ago,o2 would be ok clowns are very hardy ,i'm at a blank at the moment ,coincidence?

Me as well and maybe I was hoping that I shouldn't try anything or cheak for anything like flucks or other parasites or even just a second opinion to **** I thought it might me. So thank you

If the sump was out of water, I guess there wasn’t much flow since the return wouldn’t have worked. Also a sump makes up a great percentage of total water volume which would mean your salinity would have spiked to high levels. Do you have an ATO?

If the sump was out of water, I guess there wasn’t much flow since the return wouldn’t have worked. Also a sump makes up a great percentage of total water volume which would mean your salinity would have spiked to high levels. Do you have an ATO?

Unfortunately not setup it broke in late to mid October when I moved
