HI to all
I found this washed up on shore in galveston about a week ago I don't do reef tanks of any kind so I have no idea what I have here lol I know that it sat in a plastic bag no water other then what came off the trash I was picking up on the beach along with two Portuguese man o wars i found near it for several hours ( thought all would've been dead ) but when I dumped the bag with them and the shells all still alive !!! It likes the light I'm guessing since it curls back into a ball when I turn them off or even on blue light I've only fed it frozen plankton it sometimes gets brighter or darker green and orange and today there is a bunch of little white feather looking things stuck to all sides of the tank and they close and open every so often so I assume they too are alive sorry if my ignorance for this and the other things I found have not been taken care of properly by no means do I want them to die and this is why I am asking any of you for any help please thanks in advance

hi,def cool nem,and welcome to the reef, let the nem experts tell you what to feed,do you have fish only tank,or this just temporary ?

Cool nem. Was it in a sealed bag, like someone dumped the bag, or more like it was probably a wild nem that got caught in some debris? I know there is someone here on R2R who is from around here in the Houston-Galveston area who has collected wild nems before in Galveston offnof the Jetties. Let me see if I can remember who and find out if those are the same as this one you found.

If I am remembering correctly it was @Reefahholic. So maybe he might recognize it if it is one of our local gulf coast anemones.

You know what, looking very closely at the pics, it looks very similar to one of the nems found in the Gulf. Specifically Bunodosoma cavernatum aka the Warty Sea Anemone. You can tell because of the bumpy nature of its flesh. And they do come in several different colors, some even being more whitish, like the one in your pic.

Edit: adding a pic if one showing the bumps in the flesh more clearly.

It was just there by itself on the beach I put it in a bag I had with me to put shells in and it stayed in there all day thought it was dead
