Help!

Sorry, not a chalice guy here, but if possible, blow off the coral with a direct blast from the powerhead or return. See if the sand will come off. I do this with my other corals when they cover with sand like favias.

Sounds like a diamond or sleeper goby is dumping on it. What grain size of sand are you using? How close to the bottom is the chalice?

Use a turkey baster instead of a powerhead to blow off the sand....then, you can brine your turkey with the same water :)

Ok, so I tried basting the chalice, and it worked a little bit. Some of the sand came off. But, there seems to be a crust of sand that formed around the chalice. And, it won't come off.

Take it out of the tank, use a soft toothbrush, preferably belonging to someone else, and gently brush all of the sand off of it.
