Helloe I have my 40 gallon long set up with live rock and sand i'm using jungle 5 in 1 test strips my lvl's are 0 nitrate 0 nitrite ph is 7.8 but the alkalinity is over 300 the color for 300 in a dark green but the strip shows dark blue

Those jungle tests are a poor judge of true alkalinity, particularly at higher levels. I used the same strips when I was a newbie and, as I recall, the alk reading was always blue-dark blue. If your looking for an economical alternative, API makes a pretty good alk kit, and, of course, salifert or elos will be even better.
