Do you need to add the "ph buffer" to the replacement rodi water when the saltwater evaporates? I know im not supposed to add extra salt bc if i do it would spike up the salinity to 1.26+ since it residues-does the same thing happen with thevph? Thanks!

Just add RODI. Most reefers dont use PH buffer at all

Don’t add the ph buffer. Your water change salinity should match your tanks. Don’t mess with ph unless your monitoring it and it’s dangerously low

What do they use then?

For what? to raise ph? most start with adding a fresh air line to a skimmer. And a lot dont even test for ph

What test kit do you use for PH?

Yes, just RO/DI water for evaporation.

Like asked what did you use to test. Second ph is affected more by ambient co2 in the room than anything. Easy is crack a window if possible, second would be run a fresh air tube to a skimmer silencer if you have a skimmer. CO2 scrubber if you have a skimmer and are prepared for the extra cost. Last resort would be to use kalkwasser in your ato, but please research before anything. Do not add any supplements to your tank unless you’ve researched
