I have a 56 gallon reef tank. The heater broke, I don't know when, so I got another one and put it in there... the temp went from 71 to 76 and I noticed that one of my clownfish now has ich. I turned the heater down to 72 and I'll slowly increase the temp, but beyond that is there anything that I can/should do?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Is the clownfish the only thing that seems to be suffering?

Welcome to R2R.

keep them fed well with quality food, NewLifeSpectrum Thera +A pellets are very good, keep them well fed and soak the food in garlic said to help with immune system but definetly helps to get them to eat!! let the temp stable out and slowly bring it up you could do 3-4degrees in a day no problem as long as its done over SEVERAL HOURS. and not in a hour... i personally turn it up a click let it set for 24 hours and watch it. once it levels out move it again that way your not messing with it so much it doesnt level out.

Another safe bet is a thermastat or a controller, that you can set the temp you want to turn the Heater up to 90 and then use the controller to keep it on and off.

+1 on the garlic to help stimulate their hunger ... getting them to eat it the best thing that you can do for them. Then concentrate on slowly raising the temp.

welcome

fine tipps here already. here one more, don't know if you can get it on your local fish dealer but i think its and american product:
"MicrobeLift" is a company that are making things that you can put into water without chemistry - just "pure" and "good" bacteria.
They have something against ich too. every dealer here is convinced of that thing which should really help. But be careful - you have to turn your skimmer and UV off for at least 3 days. I know many aquarists where it just helps...
