Help!!

Hi everyone, I just purchased a fluval uvc in line filter, the thing is the out put pipe on my filter is too small to fit it!! But the input pipe is bang on, will I still be able to fit it on the input or will imthe uvc not work? Please help me I'm baffled!! Thanks in advance

the unit is made to connect to;
Connects in-line to all canister filter hosing with an internal diameter of 5/8″ (or 16mm), including all Fluval 07 and 06 Series canister filters.
