I recently noticed that my RODI return line is red....used to be clear and now it's red. I have crazy cyano growing in my tank...any suggestions as to why? Only thing I did was change the filter media to replace the old filters in the RODI unit. Now it's changed red the line

I don't see a filter in the top. need more from you I used to work in this field a bit. How is your system hooked up ie source main line downstream from water heater?. What is your source town, well sand point ? Looks a lot like Iron, or tannins. in the canister

Well from what I see you have your left and right cans swapped… media filter should be ahead of the charcoal

which means you probably need a new rodi membrane and put the media filter on the right… charcoal on the left… and while your at it replace the DI resin whichever can on the top that is…

I doubt the cyano has anything to do with your RoDi.

Well apparently I didn't have enough media in the canister and the TDS was 95 :( so he fixed it and now it reads "0" so I was feeding my tank tap water!!!!!!! So I guess a few water changes and it will subside...my heaters were also not working and I replaced them to for a more constant temp. The beauty of reefing ...so I was just pumping nutrients into my tank..

Cyano shows up from high nutrients and parameter swings. Have you tested the tank lately?

I was lazy on maintenance for a while and then did a series of large water changes over a couple weeks. Even though I was getting everything back in order, I had cyano show up. Nopox and vodka dosing can also feed cyano.

It did I was basically using tap water TDS read was 95 :( we just fixed it and now it reads "0" :)
Wasn't thinking faulty filter at the time, just the color of the hoses. So you got me on that one lol

Sounds like you’ll have a clean tank soon

Your membrane is either bad or missing.
Flush the unit out and try to run vinegar thru the tube via dosing pump line if you have one handy

Oh yes...I found this out first hand a while back dosing Vibrant :(

I did and Apparently there wasn't enough media in the chamber and it was 95 TDS and now reads "0" so I assume the tap water is filled with extra nutrients. Plus my temperature was swinging too with bad heater so I replaced 2 new heaters and a new ink bird since they were both over 2 years old and caked in coralline algae. All number were good except the calcium was a little high so I dropped that back too.

Like they said on a BRS video. It takes months for a problem to become visible, and takes just as long for the problem to be fixed. To me the staining is Iron. You may want to add a sediment filter at the beginning. Those are cleanable, or replaceable with different micron values. That would make your other filters last longer
