Helpful tips for transferring?

I have a type of leather (maybe mushroom) that is attached with a string through it to hold it to the pod. My questions are; #1: how do I attach it to a rock in my tank and #2: what type is it? So I know better how to care for it. Thank you in advance!

Not sure the best way to attach it I’m kind of a noob, but I’m pretty sure that’s a toad stool of some sort
