If i feed a medium size bubble tip anenome small pieces (1 or 2) of dried shrimp daily or every other day to help it split is this okay?? or will this even work? I read if you feed it often it will help split the anenome.

Can i overfeed it, or hurt it?

Any thoughts? or is this a bad idea lol

I'd just let nature take it's course. They'll split when they want / need to split. Most times they split due to stress.

You can split them manually with one smooth exact cut of a razor blade through the mouth making sure that you cut evenly through. Look it up if you want there are videos. You would be surprised how fast they will come together after you split it. If they split naturally thats cool too. I'm sure you will get a back and forth on what to do but it's pretty straight forward. I think BRS had a video or it was mr saltwater tank. Anyways you will find the videos. It works.

Yeah i watched that video i dont know if i want to try to cut it i would rather feed it heavy for a couple weeks and have it split on its own. I just didnt know if this was a bad idea, if it even worked, etc....

i have been feeding mine regularly for about a year now. It is a monster but has yet to split. I keep feeding with fingers crossed!

From everything I've read, there are basically 3 things that will cause them to split: feeding (I'm not totally sure about this one), stress (this could be from a number of factors...some just part of nature like clowns rubbing in it all the time...and others not so natural like bad water quality or other changes in their environment...), and "going under the knife." Some also seem more prone to split than others. I am setting up a nem tank, and my plan is to work to get a split naturally and then try the manual propagation (like in the BRS video) once I have one that is a little more "disposable." There are lots of other conversations on getting them to split and some good info is available but this is basically what I've been able to derive so far. HTH :)

I also have to say that we use the term "naturally" when it comes to getting btas to split without manual propagation, but we should remember that the "tearing" of a nem is actually one of nature's ways of splitting them. It is not uncommon in nature for them to tear and split due to aggression from some predator or other means which results in propagation. The cutting of a nem may actually be less stressful (believe it or not) than causing it to split by other types of induced stress.

I've had a rose bubble tip for over 3 years now. It grew to be on average, 4-5 inch disk. Two nights ago it split into three separate nems! Is it normal for it to split into three? I've only ever heard of two...

I had bot a BTA and a RBTA split by giving them a whole big frozen shrimp. within 24hrs they both split. havent tried to replicate it since then. they are so big i really dont want another clone at this point

In my opinion. If you can multiply your bubble tips and you are only interested in keeping one or so... Then you should sell them to your local LFS. I like the idea because that means less harvested from the wild.

Most LFS stores sell clones im my area. I haven't seen a wild caught BTA in a long time. since they are pretty easy to propagate .

Mine is big. Doubt hell split i kind of dont want him yo i love when theyrd big smd have plenty of room for my clowns

I dropped mine on its face when I was acclimating it. It split 2 days later. They found each other again and are side by side in the DT.

I went to pick up a watermelon BTA yesterday.. as the LFS was trying to get it off the rock, they decided to just bust the rock to get it off... All failed and the Nem was attached to two parts of the rock... low and behold, the Nem was slip in half by accident.

I did not end up getting it, and they are holding it until it is healed, to see if it is going to die off or not. If everything goes well, I will be getting two for the price of one :)
I have not seen a watermelon Nem with awesome coloring as it has/had before
