I accidentally dosed accu-clear into my tank in an attempt to clear the water after a partial water change. Will it kill my livestock? What should I do?

How much did u dose in and why??? Lol. Best thing to do is another water change if you dosed a lot. Then test and observe. Rinse and repeat daily or bi daily

[/QUO it’s not bad but it was for a freshwater aquarium only and I picked the wrong bottle

Oh no it’s fine. According to api it won’t harm anything but it may cloud up your water from extra nutrients. Don’t worry about it though

How big of a tank?

Accuclear is meant to bond smaller particulates into larger so the aquarium filter picks it up easier. Thus, clarifies the water. Since we dont know what is used to bond that particulate we are cautious. Never dose anything you dont test for is probably one of top 5 cardinal rules in our hobby.

Honestly 2caps full isn't cause for concern unless u have a nano or pico tank.

My tanks about 85 gallons with sump and all but the accuclear was a freshwater version

It was a freshwater clarifier

Like I said before, it’s safe according to api. Also, I wouldn’t use water clarifiers as they don’t work in my experience. The only one that works super well is nualgi

You will be alright. If you are worried, do a 20% wc. I mean 17 gallons should dilute 2 caps in a system of about 100 gallon.
