I wanted to run my reactor with some carbon to clear up my water a bit but I’ve started to notice pieces of the carbon in my sand bed. I use bulk reef supplies ROX 0.8 carbon in my lifegard aquatics turbo nano top flow reactor. is this bad for the tank? What could I do to prevent the from happening?

There should be foam in there to stop it from doing this. You can pour into a nylon mesh bag or stocking and insert into reactor also

Just siphon it out, if it’s only a small amount use a Turkey Baster, if it’s a large amount then do a water change/siphon

I do have form inserts but they just seem to be getting through somehow.
Assure theyre flat when filling. They can move sideways allowing bypass

Hi,

You may want to slow the flow down also. It should just tumble slowly with bubbles just at the top surface of the carbon
Very true. High flow will move that foam easily

No harm other than aesthetics. I run rox in a carbon reactor with a slow pump so it doesn't tumble the rox and break it up into small escapable pieces. 2 sponge filters on top.
