They are both shy, they are always hiding specially in a big tank. I would do fire fish, they swim more.

I like Randall's gobies gobies because I really like how they pair up with a pistol shrimp. I don't know if I'm just lucky or not, but I've also never purchased ones that are "paired up" already. They always have found each other after a few days max.

Agree. Had to fish my fire fish out of my over flow box the other day. He jumped over the surface skimmer, went up through the u siphon and would have taken a trip down into fuge if it hadn't been for my silencer mod on my drain.

I've had both in my tank, unfortunately both have passed away. But I like the Randall's because it cleans up the sand a lil bit n looks cool at the same time. Fire fish just hide out.

I really love my firefish. Always out swimming...and they have amazing color and personality IMHO
Never had a Randall's, but they sure do look cute :smile:

Looks like you said your tank is open top, so I would go with the Randalls, the fire fish are known jumpers and your tank is shallow making it a bit more likely IMO. If you put a screen top on, I would change my vote to a firefish (maybe a purple, little less common then the regular red ones but still not overly expensive).
